A fairly recently conducted international survey in the UK, US, Brazil and China established that technical competencies in areas which includes IT, social media in addition to mobile computing are necessary for a bright future of the evolving global workforce. The survey performed by the Global Partnership Schools and PwC’s GEMS Education concentrated on asking business managers whether the present education system will satisfy the future demands of operating an enterprise. The survey results centered on the importance of a wide range of technological capabilities necessary to succeed in every industry.

Findings of the survey

Among four hundred prosperous leaders, 37% declared} that a greater understanding of technical skills is essential. In accordance with a news story, many American business people gave most importance to the escalating need for  information technology talents in their workforce above required skills. Quite a few respondents from the States and the UK thought that students aren’t being prepared sufficiently to handle the new work place. This must be resolved at once since the workforce of a nation is often competing with knowledgeable international job seekers these days. Frontrunners from emerging countries thought that these expertise were important while the frontrunners from established countries gave them less significant importance. Apart from this, cross cultural networking capabilities were voted critical by developed countries while the developing nations did not give them significant importance.

The deficit of the IT skills in today’s workforce

While the IT competencies grow in importance with passing time, real anxieties are forming among the business leaders. They feel that current students lack the needed capabilities important to face the challenges of the global community. Only 43% of the U.S. leaders, 50% of the UK market leaders as well as some Brazilian participants believed that today’s students have sufficient potential for directing tomorrow’s workforce. A large percentage of the participants felt that the state denies them access for changing the education systems existing in their respective countries. 51% of the Chinese market leaders, 59 % of the leaders from UK, 63 % of US forerunners and 67% of the leaders from Brazil who participated in the questionnaire also believed that their governing bodies must improve the rate of numeracy together with literacy skillsets in their countries.

What can be done

Because the international marketplace is in demand for fresh Information Technology competence, students can decide on concentrating on advanced IT skills choosing classes including java training classes or python classes. Courses, offering these in demand IT skills, also needs to be included in the education system to prepare the students today for the future. Government should also permit the industry leaders as well as community to play a role in reforming and developing a new education system so that students can profit from it and equip themselves for tomorrow’s competition.
